4 of the Best Movies About Computer Technology

While many film buffs enjoy romantic, rom-com, action, thriller and horror movies, many others prefer something different, like films related to computer technology. While most movies out there have scenes consisting of tech, there are many others that are purely based on the computer technology category. If you love computers and all things technology, you need to add the following movies to your watch list.

Live Free or Die Hard

The older Die Hard films generally end the same way. John McClane saves the world by himself and without batting an eyelid. However, Live Free or Die Hard comes with a twist. Yes, he does save the world once again but this time he has a computer hacker helping him. It’s up to John and his new apprentice to take down a cyber-terrorist who’s looking to do damage with his computer skillset. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Die Hard film without the usual action-packed scenes, and this one certainly delivers.

The Matrix

You haven’t lived if you haven’t watched the Matrix franchise. If you love computers and anything tech, The Matrix promises to provide you with a unique story based on future computer tech, from hackers looking to bring the world into the future to different worlds that makes this movie slightly confusing, but action-packed at the same time. You’ll definitely need to turn the volume up and sit closely to the screen so that you don’t miss the important scenes – many movie buffs have said they almost feel like they are in the movie themselves.

Office Space

Office Space is a completely different film to the above movies, but what it does offer is a tech-based comedy story that promises to entertain. Three office workers who hate their boss decide that they no longer want to be treated as just a number. They start a journey in the hope they can upset their boss and get payback for how badly they’ve been treated themselves. This movie is full of humor, clever scenes, and loads of technology that will keep you coming back for more. Warning: this movie is highly addictive, and you’ll likely watch it hundreds of times.

The Thirteenth Floor

Another classic that was released all the way back in 1999, The Thirteenth Floor gives viewers everything from thriller to computer-related scenes. This film is all about a computer scientist who builds a simulation that’s set in 1937 – something that’s a bit weird, but at the same time wonderful. It all comes back to haunt him when his colleague and mentor is found murdered. The movie itself is full of twists and tales that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.

There are, of course, many other computer tech movies out there that are just as entertaining as the above. However, if you’re looking to kill some time and watch some great movies with some excellent storylines, the above films are almost certainly up there with the best computer-related movies of all time.
