Being a New Yorker, I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews from black women about all the “quick blowout” salons that have been popping up all over the city over the past few years. It seems that most of these places only have one stylist, at the most, that is familiar with black hair, and even then, problems still arise. In a city that never sleeps, a place that can give your hair the occasional pick-me-up is a godsend.

Anthea Kelsick and Folake Oguntebi hope to give black women all over the country quick styling options that are tailor-made for their hair type. Their new concept salon, GoodHair, will offer either ‘Wash and Style’ (curly style) or ‘Wash and Blowout’ (straight styles) in a professional and timely manner with an experienced stylist.

The two Ivy League grads, who have over 25 years of experience in marketing and branding, are currently crowdfunding for the first salon, which will be located in New York City. Even though they just started the campaign 3 days ago, they are over 2/3 of the way to their goal.
