Longtime friend of writer/director Lee Daniels, Naomi Campbell, will be joining Daniels’ upcoming series “Empire” in a recurring role. “Empire”, a drama about a family in the music business, is set to make its small screen debut on Fox, sometime in early 2015. According to the Hollywood Reporter,

Campbell will portray Camilla, an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with the much-younger Hakeem (newcomer Bryshere Gray), the potential heir to Lucious’ throne. Tasha exercises considerable influence over Hakeem.

We haven’t seen much from Naomi Campbell in the way of acting, but Daniels is confident in her acting ability, calling the international supermodel an “underrated actress”.

Empire stars Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers and Malik Yoba. Gabourey Sidibe also has a recurring role in the series.
