Born, Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso de la Santísima Trinidad, Celia Cruz, the Afro-Cuban singer and performer known as the “Queen of Salsa” was born in Havana, Cuba in 1925 and passed away in 2003 at the age of 77.
She performed all over the United States and Latin America throughout her career — a career which included over 50 albums, several Grammys, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also performed in England, France, and Congo.
A TV series based on the late singer’s life is currently in production. The series which will star Puerto Rican actors Jeimy Osorio & Modesto Lacen as Celia Cruz and her husband Pedro Knight, is a Fox Telecolombia Network production. It will be directed by Victor Mallarino and Liliana Bocanegra.
