After ending a 14-year boycott, Serena Williams’ return to Indian Wells has been a victorious one.
On Friday evening, the powerhouse tennis player won two matches against Monic Niculescu, in a 7-5, 7-5 victory. The packed stands went wild for Williams.
On Sunday Williams scored another victory, against Zarina Diyas, 6-2, 6-0, the 53-minute match was a swift victory compared to Friday’s much closer call.
Williams tells ESPN,
“It definitely felt back to normal out there,” Williams said. “Just trying to feel the rhythm and trying to focus on the ball more than anything else. … I think I was able to relax because I was able to do more of the right things and not make as many mistakes as I did in my last round.”
