Singer-Songwriter Herizen Guardiola Lands Star Role in Upcoming Baz Luhrmann Netflix Drama ‘The Get Down.’


Eighteen-year-old singer-songwriter Herizen Guardiola will be starring in the upcoming much buzzed about Baz Luhrmann Netflix drama, The Get Down about a group of South Bronx teenagers in 1970’s New York. Her character Mylene Cruz is described as a “shining, tenacious girl with a voice from God who dreams of disco stardom from the confines of her family’s fiercely religious church walls.”

This will be Guardiola’s first acting role. “It’s always thrilling to find a fresh unknown talent, particularly one who is not only a terrific actor but a magnificent vocalist.” Luhrmann said of the budding actress.

The musical series, which also stars Justice Smith, Shameik Moore, Skylan Brooks and Tremaine Brown Jr., all newcomers, will incorporate elements of Hip-hop, Punk, and Disco music, which defined New York City in the 70’s.

The role will definitely give Guardiola a chance to show off her musical talent. Get Down is currently in pre-production and will premiere sometime in 2016.
