Target Ends Up in Another Controversy Over Plus-Sizes. This Time For Upcoming Lily Pulitzer Collaboration.

Last summer, plus-size bloggers hit back at Target, urging shoppers to boycott over the complete lack options for plus-size shoppers who wanted to purchase some of the chic, affordable options included in the mass retailers collaboration with designer-of-the-moment Altuzarra. A spokesman for Target responded, stating that the company would “take the feedback into consideration” and that Target will be offering more plus-size options in the future.

When Target announced an upcoming collaboration with all-American resort wear brand Lily Pulitzer, which normally only carries up to a size 14, many shoppers reached out the brand to see if they had made good on their previous statements. It turns out that the collection will be available in plus-sizes, with one major oversight — plus sizes will be available online only.

This response spurred a backlash on social media, which Target hasn’t formally responded to.

The Lily for Target collection hits stores and Target.com on April 19, 2015. The collection will include homewares, accessories, and clothing. Prices will range from $2 to $150.
