Tyra Banks shared a big surprise on Instagram last night. The model/mogul is a new mother to a baby boy with her boyfriend photographer Erik Asla.
Banks, who has been open about her fertility struggles in the past conceived via surrogate.
Last year she was driven to tears on an episode of The Fab Life, while discussing how hard it is when people ask her why she wasn’t had a baby yet. She made the revelation after co-host Chrissy Teigen, who is now several months pregnant, made headlines when she admitted to her own struggles with conceiving.
“I want to co-sign what Chrissy is saying and say ‘You have no idea what people are going through. Why am I crying? You just have no idea what people are going through, so when you ask Chrissy [why don’t you have kids] or me that or anybody that, it is none of your frigging business, okay?”
“I’m so tired of seeing on my social media, ‘Why don’t you have kids, why don’t you have kids?’ You don’t know, you don’t know what I’m going through. You have no idea. For a long time, it was so funny, I was 23-years-old, I used to tell myself ‘in three years I’m going to have kids.’”
Banks hasn’t shared a photo of her son, York Banks Asla, instead she shared a picture of a baby boy’s hat.
“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here.” Banks captioned the photo. “He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”
