Watch This. Black African Woman Talk Patriarchy and Identity in ‘Woman Undressed.’

Woman Undressed

Created by South African filmmaker Sithasolwazi Kentane, Woman Undressed is a forthcoming web series that highlights the perspectives of black African women.

In the pilot episode, “Episode One: Black African Woman,” we meet a series of interviewees who share their perspectives on identity, internalized misogyny, and pride.

“Be cognizant of the fact that when we talk about your African identity and the African ideal, it really goes beyond the traditions and the cultures that oppress you. And it’s about having that conversation — not just with yourself but with other people,” says Londiwe Nompilo Mntambo, one of the women featured.
