Directed by Shola Amoo, Dear Mr. Shakespeare uses spoken word to explore the racial themes in “Othello.”

The short film was presented as part of the British Council’s series Shakespeare Lives 2016, which celebrates the iconic playwright on the 400th anniversary of his death. It features writer/artist Phoebe Boswell as she relays her conflicted feelings towards the work of Shakespeare as a person of color. Ashley Thomas plays Othello.
