Created by photographer Steve Rosenfeld, and inspired by a song of the same name by artist, musician and activist Michael Franti, the “What I be” project illustrates the issues that affect individuals from all walks of life. Each image includes a personal essay, though some essays are forthcoming. The project features a diverse range of men and women, but I was especially struck by the images of people of color and women since so many seemed so deeply tied to microaggressions.
