While the ethnic and cultural origin of ankara fabrics or “Dutch wax prints” is a bit complicated, the prints and art associated with the fabrics have come to represent African culture and style in a broader sense.

Nigerian graphic artist and illustrator Udegbunam TBJ used the intricate lines, patterns, and designs often found in ankara fabric as inspiration for his latest series of illustrations, which features cool modern women, rocking natural hairstyles and stylish outfits.
