Artist Natasha Marin Launches ‘Reparations’ Website.

Natasha Marin is a Seattle-based artist who is taking crowdsourcing to new heights with “Reparations.”

The project, which started on Facebook last year, is now a full-blown website where users of color can make requests and white users can fulfill them. White “reparations” participants can also offer services and non-white users can claim them.

“What if a stranger restored your belief in humanity, if only for a moment, by supporting you and allowing you to claim something you need in a material way?,” explains Marin.

“I invite People of Color to ask for what we need to feel better, be happier, be more productive by posting in this space. These may be both material and immaterial requests.

I invite people who identify as White to offer services or contributions to People of Color in need of time, energy, substantive care, and support. “

So far Reparations boasts 55 offers, 29 requests, and 9 satisfied interactions.

It’s not clear how long the project will continue or what the limits are to requests or offers, but I’m sure that things will get pretty interesting over time.
