Following news of confirmed roles for Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah in NBC’s upcoming live production of ‘The Wiz,’ rumors are circulating that Beyoncé and Uzo Aduba might also be added to the show’s cast.
According to E! both stars are in talks with NBC production for roles. Beyoncé, who has a few major motion picture roles under her belt, seems perfect for the role of Glinda the Good Witch. Uduba, who is a classically trained actress and operatic singer, and starred in the revival of Godspell from 2011 to 2012 would be an amazing addition to the cast. She recently showed off her skills during an appearance on The View.
It seems like NBC is definitely working hard to live up to the original version of The Wiz, which stared Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. No word, yet, on the casting of Dorothy, which NBC held an open casting for last month.
The Wiz Live! will air on NBC on Thursday, December 3, 2015.
