Common Tone. The Yin & Yang of Skin.

Kez Coo, Colorism, Shadism, Common Tone

These images by Kez Coo are poignant and subtly provocative at a time when shadism is being discussed more and more by women in the black community. The beauty of these images is that the models are not simply shot as one shade, or skin tone – they are shot showing various tones.

“The piece was shot for World Vitiligo Day 2013. I have always been inspired by contrast and skin tone so for this project I brought them together as a sort of physical ying & yang of skin and art. The messages behind the pieces are beauty, symmetry, peace, strength and identity.” Says Kez Coo.
