Whitney Bracey

Whitney Bracey, a Texas-based fashion designer, is part of an increasingly growing group of entrepreneurs that are now offering nude-colored options for women of color.

Bracey, who has been designing clothing since she was a child, and attended fashion school at Texas Woman’s University in Denton got her start making swimsuits for a friend’s pageant wear line. In 2015, she launched Mahogany Blues, a company that makes dancewear for dancers of all skin tones. She was inspired to start the company after talking with her friend TaKiyah Wallace, who happens to be the founder of Brown Girls Do Ballet, an organization that encourages ballerinas of color.

Mahogany Blues currently offers 4 shades of nude and will roll out 2 more shades in the near future.
