The ongoing celebrity nude photo scandal is one of many examples of how women are blamed when their privacy is violated, and how famous women are treated like public property, more so than their male counterparts. Another aspect of this scandal, is the fact that the exposure of white mainstream celebrities has garnered more public sympathy and debate than that of the black women who have also had their privacy violated.

After even more sets of images were made public this weekend, Gabrielle Union and her husband Dwyane Wade have released a joint statement to TMZ, condemning the hackers and expressing sympathy for the other woman who have had their privacy comprised over the past few weeks.

“it has come to our attention that our private moments, that were shared and deleted solely between my husband and myself, have been leaked by some vultures.”

“I can’t help but to be reminded that since the dawn of time women and children, specifically women of color, have been victimized, and the power over their own bodies taken from them. These atrocities against women and children continue worldwide.

“For anyone out there also being affected by these and other hacking and hate crimes – We send our love, support and prayers. We have done nothing wrong.”

TMZ also reports that the couple has contacted the FBI.
