Laura Mvula debuts an empowerment anthem for the ages with “Phenomenal Woman.” The song marks the second single off of her forthcoming album, The Dreaming Room, which drops on June 17.

The funky, soulful tune was inspired by Maya Angelou’s iconic poem of the same name.

“I wrote this anthem to raise up our women,” says Mvula. “We are the givers of life, we are the children bearers, the nurturers, the heroines, we are extraordinary in our ordinariness, we fly, we fight we are “Phenomenal Woman.'”
