Taraji P. Henson Lands Lead Role in ‘Hunger Games’ Producer’s Directorial Debut Film.

Taraji P. Henson

In case you didn’t already know, 2015 is the year of Taraji. The Hollywood veteran is finally getting her due with tons of mainstream shine, some amazing fashion spreads, and a slew of promotional appearances.

Deadline reports that Henson has been confirmed as the lead role in the upcoming film The Best Of Enemies. The project, which will also be the directorial debut for Hunger Games producer Robin Bissell, will be based on the true story of the relationship between civil rights activist Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis. Ellis was a segregationist and former Exalted Cyclops of a Ku Klux Klan organization out of Durham, North Carolina, who turned Civil Rights activist and trade union organizer. The two activists were in staunch opposition as sworn enemies, but eventually came to work together after court-ordered desegregation turned the city of Durham upside down.

The film, which will take place in the 60’s and 70’s, draws inspiration from the 2007 book The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South, by Osha Gray Davis.

Empire creator Danny Strong will serve as producer for the project alongside actor Tobey Maguire. The Best Of Enemies will begin principal photography in 2016.
