Taraji P. Henson Will Host ‘Saturday Night Live.’

Taraji P. Henson

It looks like Taraji P. Henson will be taking on hosting duties for an upcoming “Saturday Night Live,” with Mumford and Sons as the musical guest. The episode, which will air on April 15th, will most likely feature an Empire sketch. If so, I’m looking forward to seeing Henson play Cookie campier.

The gig will make Henson the 10th black woman ever to host “Saturday Night Live” in the show’s 40’s year history. Last year, Kerry Washington, lucky number 9, hosted a pretty funny episode back in 2013, which included a cold open sketch that lampooned the show’s diversity problems. Sasheer Zamata was added to the cast shortly after. The show also added more black women to it’s writing staff, including Natasha Rothwell, LaKendra Tookes, and Leslie Jones, who eventually became a cast regular.
