The SAG Awards. Fashion. Natural Hair on the Red Carpet. Viola Davis’ Beautiful Acceptance Speech.

Uzo Aduba, Viola Davis

Actresses Viola Davis and Uzo Aduba took home awards at this year’s 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Both women looked glorious on the red carpet, which saw a mix of both classic and modern dresses, and some great natural hairstyles as well.

Viola Davis

Viola Davis looked ravishing white, and her hair was truly lovely. She scored a win for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series” for her performance in ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder. Check out her look and watch her inspiring speech below.

When I tell my daughter stories at night, inevitably, a few things happen. Number one, I use my imagination, I always start with life and then I build from there. And then the other thing that happens is she always says “Mommy… Can you put me in the story?” So, I’d like to thank Paul Lee, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Bill D’Elia and Peter Nowalk, for thinking that a sexualized, messy, misterious woman could be a 49 year old dark-skinned african american woman who looks like me.

Uzo Aduba

Uzo Aduba went for a more modern look in a very distinctive color. The bright, bold yellow looks amazing on her. She took home the award for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series” for her performance in Orange is the New Black and her enthusiasm over her win is everything.

Danielle Brooks

Actress Danielle Brooks was definitely sporting my favorite look of the night. The sheer accents on this midnight blue dress were serving some serious Old Hollywood style.

Lupita Nyong’o

Her natural updo was accented with the perfect lipcolor and an eyecatching dress by Ellie Saab.

Vicky Jeudy

The Orange is the New Black actress really worked this sultry, sparkly, printed number.

Laverne Cox

I loved her braided bouffant.

Paula Patton

Rashida Jones

Sufe Bradshaw

Lorraine Toussaint
