Throwback Thursday. L’Trimm.

L'Trimm

L’Trimm was a cool late 80’s lady hip-hop duo that was big on the Miami Bass scene. It’s two members, Lady Tigra and Bunny D, a.k.a Rachel de Rougemont and Elana Cager met in high-school and scored their first record contract at 15 and 17 years old. They went on to release three albums with Atlantic Records.

The two girls took their group name from a brand of jeans (Trim) and and the “L'” to give their duo a bit of fancy French flair. L’Trimm is best known for their hit “Cars That Go Boom”.

While the ladies have since gone their separate ways — Bunny D. has been working as a nurse for the past 20 years and Lady Tigra continues to make music, their legacy in hip-hop still lives on through artists like Jay Z and most recently Nicki Minaj, who clearly paid homage to their unique flow and hit song, in her latest single “Anaconda”.
