Watch This. ‘flâner’ Episode 2. Being Black in France. ‘truth, emotional labour, french slavery, working in fast food & more.’

Strolling, Cecile Emeke

The second installment of flâner by filmmaker Cecile Emeke, we meet another young French black woman, who offers her perspectives on race and gender in France. The video is at times emotionally, if not deeply personal, especially where she talks about isolation, as a black person and a person of color in France. Some insightful observations are also made about colonalism, and how colonial history is filtered through the lens of an imagined, progressive future.

Emeke recently commented that this compelling series will be heading to Spain and The Netherlands pretty soon.
