2015 is the year of Misty Copeland. Earlier this year the 32-year-old ballerina was named principal dancer at the American Ballet in the company, making her the first black principal in the company’s 75-year history. Copeland is also the subject of an upcoming documentary, A Ballerina’s Tale.
She recently stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about her upcoming projects, as well the importance of diverse representation in Ballet and classical art forms.
Copeland also treated viewers to an in-studio performance, accompanied by Yo-Yo Ma. Watch below.
