Wangechi Mutu

In her latest exhibition “Nguva na Nyoka (Sirens and Serpents)”, currently on view at London’s Victoria Miro gallery, Wangechi Mutu weaves mythology and folk legends from Africa and the Arab world, to create a series of striking, complex figures — mermaids, flora and fauna from the sea, both real and imagined.

The following is a short preview of Nguva, the film that accompanies the exhibition.

“Nguva na Nyoka (Sirens and Serpents)” is on view at Victoria Miro gallery in London until December 19th, 2014.
