Why Everyone Needs a Smartwatch.

Seriously, why do you still have that old analog watch on your wrist? Smartwatches are the future, and you’d best get on it now. Since the Apple Watch was first launched in 2015, there was understandably some trepidation towards this new piece of technology. However, that fear was quickly assuaged once people realized just how cool they could be.

Still not convinced? Here are some reasons to persuade you.

Stop looking at your phone

We all know that we spend way too long looking down at our phones. Even when we’re among friends and family, there’s an irresistible urge simply to check the home screen to see what’s up. However, a smartwatch is connected to your phone, so you’re sure as sugar going to get a notification if someone has texted you or is trying to call. This way, you know you’re not going to miss a thing, and it’s much more polite when around a group of people. You can always check your phone again when you’re at home!

They have very cool features

The Apple Watch no doubt has the best amount of features, including built-in GPS, heart rate sensor, water resistance up to 50 meters, games, as well as useful things like ‘Ask Siri’ and workout apps. Most smartwatches have the ability to switch watch faces, but Apple’s certainly look the best, with modern and vintage designs available (plus that Mickey Mouse one, if that’s your thing). Some complain about the fact that you have to charge smartwatches practically every day, but most of us are doing the same with our phones, so it’s not that much more effort.

They look awesome

Apple Watches are certainly in a league of their own when it comes to design, with a unique and modern style that is unmistakable. Other manufacturers have decided to take a different route, however. Tag Heuer’s Connected Modular 45 smartwatch is designed in such a way that it looks more or less like a regular analog watch. It still has the water resistance, phone notifications, GPS, and a bunch of useful apps, but if you feel like the Apple Watch is simply too ‘digital’ for you, then the Connected may well be a better fit. True, they are a tad expensive brand new, but it’s possible to find cheaper ones if you don’t mind going second-hand.

They are only going to get more advanced

We’re already seeing with the invention of Snapchat Spectacles just how far technology is coming along, and smartwatches are no different. It’s being reported that smartwatches in the future will have the ability to track and record human activity like never before. Although it won’t make a difference in terms of style, the effects are said to be hugely positive for medical reasons, as this article discusses:

“Future smartwatches will be able to better analyse and understand our activities by automatically discovering when we engage in some new type of activity. This new method for activity discovery paints a far richer, more accurate, picture of daily human life. As well as for fitness and lifestyle trackers, this can be used in healthcare scenarios and in fields such as consumer behavior research.”

So, they are helpful and look great. Why wouldn’t you want one?
