Chicago-based writer and comedian Samantha Irby has just landed a woman-centric half-hour comedy series, Meaty, set to air on FX. Irby’s upcoming series comes following the breakout success of Donald Glover’s Atlanta and Pamela Adlon’s Better Things.

Co-written by Irby and Inside Amy Schumer head writer Jessi Klein, Meaty will be based on Irby’s memoir of the same name, as well as her blog Bitches Gotta Eat. According to Deadline, “Meaty follows Irby through failed relationships, taco feasts, her struggles with Crohn’s disease, poverty, blackness and body image.”

Irby, who is often praised for her artful use of raunchy humor and brutal honesty, has also written for Jezebel and The Rumpus.
