Hidden Figures

While the first trailer for the Hidden Figures, injected a bit of humor into its portrayal of the racial discrimination and sexism, this alternate trailer portrays a more stark realistic portrait of the time.

The film, which stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, tells the true story of a little known group of black women scientists and master mathematicians who helped NASA win the space race. Monáe plays Mary Jackson, an engineer who was was considered to be a trailblazer. Henson stars as Johnson, Spencer plays her supervisor, Dorothy Vaughan. The women worked in a segregated unit from the 1940’s to the 1960’s.

In this UK trailer, we see the film’s stars being shut out of important meetings, and being talked down to by their white, female superior, played by Kirsten Dunst. Watch below.br>
