Written by Afro-Brazilian author and art educator, Kiusam Paulo de Oliveira, “The World in the Afro of Tayo” or “O Mundo de Black Power de Tayo”, is a beautifully illustrated book that explores the issue of self-love and self-esteem through the eyes of its main character, a little girl with “cabelo black” (afro textured hair).

This book is part of a growing movement among Afro-Brazilians to express and be proud of their Black identity. It’s available only in Portuguese here.
