The Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed the theme of its 2019 Gala earlier today — “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” The big event, set to take place on May 6, will be co-chaired by Serena Williams. Williams joins longstanding chair Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, and Harry Styles.
The “campy” show will explore fashion history dating back centuries, in addition to highlighting iconic fashion moments and paying homage to LGBTQ cultural contributions.
How Williams, who last appeared at the Met’s 2017 Gala (pictured above), will contribute to the theme is unclear. Given her status as an iconic athlete, the possibilities are endless.
